Weekly Update

I can't believe another week has flown by! It seems like just yesterday we were at church and here it is Saturday night and we'll be heading to the Lord's house to worship Him in 8 hours (we go to early service at 8:15 AM).

Monday, we went for an 11 mile bike ride. We were going to do 20 miles,
but the on-shore "breeze" was blowing in from the gulf at 15+ MPH. Our favorite ride is biking west to the island, south to the other bridge back to the mainland and then back home. However, the first leg of the ride was straight into the "breeze" and after going 5.5 miles our legs were "screaming" so we turned around and headed back home (11 miles round trip). (This time of year when the gulf is cool and the land temp is warm, the cool air from the gulf "rushes" in to fill the void from the rising warm air resulting in a strong on-shore breeze.)

Tuesday was another busy day with hair appointments in the afternoon and then band practice in the evening. Our final band concert is tomorrow afternoon, so practice was intense to say the least. Wednesday, we took my 98-1/2 year old aunt to the doctor. It was supposed to be a follow-up visit, but during the night on Tuesday, her back went into "spasm" and she was in agony. The doctor thinks she may have cracked a rib (she has severe osteoporosis) and gave her a cortisone shot. We went back to her apartment and stayed with her until about 5:00. I talked to her later that night and she was up washing dishes! Thursday was Bible study morning and evening. One of the things I'm praising the Lord for is we have a zero attrition rate! The ladies who start the study finish it! Thursday afternoon, I checked the pool temp and it was 90 degrees! WAHOO!!! The air temp was in the upper 70's, so we went in the pool for the first time this year. It felt so good to float and let the water surround, support and caress us! After the evening session, I called my aunt to see how she was doing and the pain was completely gone. Praise the Lord!!!

Friday we went to the high school to help the director set up the stage for the concert. It only took about an hour. Friends came over for dinner and left about
1 AM. We spent the evening scrapbooking and watching the first 2 "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies. Today we spent the day doing much needed yard work. One of the things we love is getting warm (hot!) doing outside work and then "rewarding" ourselves by relaxing in the pool!

This coming week is shaping up to be busy also with a doctor's appointment for me on Monday (my one year post op "new knees" check up). We're hoping to put the bikes up on the car on Tuesday and head south to do a ride along one of the Rails-to-Trails trails. Wednesday we take my aunt shopping, Thursday is our last Bible study and Friday we head north to my dad's. I don't know if I'll get to blog this next week or not. I'll update when we get back home.
